Daily Blog: Shoulder Injury & Teen Wolf Favs

Happy Friday!
Thank goodness it's nearly the weekend. This week has been very trying, I'm very eager for it to be over. Had the biggest craving last night for pancakes, so of course I got straight out of bed this morning to make them.

Look who else is excited for Friday pancakes!

Finally took some good selfies! I'm owing it to the fact that I got new Nike shorts! And in my favorite color too : )
It's gym time and I am sticking to legs/cardio today. Since I've really been enjoying circuit training I spent the morning thinking of a few new ones to try out. I did each 3-4 times:

Circuit #1:
Box step-ups x 20 each leg
Plate drags 15kg
Squats on balance trainer x 20

Circuit #2:
4kg Ball throw/squats x20
Bulgarian split squats 5kg (my new fav!) x12
Hip thrusts with swiss ball x20

Then I did a little ab work and leg pulleys to finish off. One of my new favorite exercises is using the broom handle and resistance band. You sit on the floor and move it to side to side, keeping the stick straight, but twisting your upper body. So good!

Friday run time! The weather was pretty windy today, which made things quite difficult. Normally it would be fine, but with the extra arm work it made my shoulder VERY sore. But at least the scenery was beautiful.

Sometimes things just get too much!
I got back into my car after finishing my run and ended up shedding a few tears. OK, more than a few. My shoulder was in absolute agony the whole run, and to make it worse one of my foot tendons was playing up, as well as one of my calf muscles. I felt like I was falling apart! It was a real struggle towards the end of it.
Then this snooty old couple accused me of hitting their car because there was a tiny speck of white on it (swear I didn't even get close.) I've also had a boy situation going on that has been driving me crazy. Grrrr I just needed to have a good cry about everything then pick myself back up again. I just need to keep telling myself that my shoulder will heal and that good things are coming. We all need a moment sometimes, right?

Getting some much-needed protein in me! Chocolate flavored since it's Friday.

Lunch was delicious as always and I'm just catching up on a couple Steve Booker vlogs. It's making me crave some beach time so bad!

I was supposed to get lots of writing done today, but it just wasn't happening. Instead I finally responded to some lovely comments you guys have been leaving : )
Having a nice healthy afternoon snack of a plain rice cracker, tuna, and some avocado. Yum!
My shoulder is still so sore, I have no idea how I'm going to get through work tonight.

Have you guys seen this need look at Fantastic Beasts And Where To Find Them?  So cool, it has J.K talking about Newt and we get to hear about more of the story-line. I can't wait to see it!

Dinner tonight was just some simple fritters with haloumi cheese and leftover quinoa. Pretty great with pesto! For dessert I had some stewed tamarillos (the best thing ever!!) with some coconut yogurt and it was amazing. If you love sour fruits, then this one is for you!

Having a Teen Wolf Netflix marathon! I really loved season three with the Japanese mythology and how it showcases what an amazing actor Dylan O'brien is. The way he switches between normal and void Stiles is scary-good. The girls get so bad-ass in this season too, I seriously miss the Lydia/Alison duo. Can't resist a bit of Derek Hale either ; )

After washing the dishes my shoulder was burning so bad I decided to look up anti-inflammatory foods to see if I could take anything to help. I ended up making a smoothie out of:
Kale
Golden kiwifruit
Lemon
Ginger
Turmeric
Coconut water

It looks disgusting, but it actually tasted great! I'm all about natural remedies and this one makes me feel better already. What you eat can make such a difference when your body is trying to heal itself. I spend so much time thinking about fueling myself everyday and this is no different. I'll probably have one of these a day until I'm all better.

Sorry it wasn't the best day, but we all have those kinds of Fridays, right?
I'd better spend the weekend resting my sore muscles and watching more Teen Wolf!

Do you have a favorite TW character/season?
I hope you all have an awesome weekend!

  2. Aww sending huge hugs and hoping that you're shoulder heels very soon, make sure you get lots of rest. I'm not sure if you need a doctor to look at it but maybe try icing it if it feels tight? You look awesome and are kicking ass and your pictures got me super excited as I'm making pancakes for breakfast tomorrow too! Yum! As far as having those days, we all go through them Steph and you are most certainly allowed a good cry. Keep your head up though and know that you are awesome, keep being yourself and everything will work out! :) Loads of love Lucy xxx
