My December Bucket-List 2016

Sunday 27 November 2016

Hello, December. My favorite month of the year! (and not just because it's my birthday month too.)
In 2015, I set myself a bucket-list for the month and it really helped me make the most of the festive season. I completed most of my list and it was one of the best Decembers I have ever had. Naturally so, I want to do the same this year and set myself all new fun things to do. Let's do it!

Buy a new dress for the big day

It's tradition in my family to wear new clothes on Christmas, and I've always loved shopping with my Mum for an outfit. Since we always go shopping on Christmas eve (another family tradition) it's usually done in a hurry, but the fun is in the thrill of it. I'm thinking of going for a nice white dress this year with sandals to match?

Succeed in making a gingerbread house

This was on last year's bucket-list, but as you can probably tell it was a major fail. I'm still determined to make and decorate one of these and I have a feeling it might be the year I do it. I'm gonna look up the best recipes and watch some YouTube videos to get the best techniques. Any tips would be greatly appreciated!

Have a Harry Potter marathon and make Butter Beer

There's something about Harry Potter and Christmas that just match perfectly, right? It might be the snow or just the feeling of family. I haven't sat down to watch all of the movies in a while, so one Sunday I will be creating a cozy setting and enjoying some Hogwarts magic. To make it even better, I thought I would add butter beer into the mix as well! After trying it at the Wizarding World of Harry Potter in Hollywood, I feel in love with the drink and have wanted more. It has the makings of a really great day!

Wear red lipstick. A lot

As much as December is about comfort, I also want to add a bit more glam into my days. I really want to make the most of some of the beautiful reds I own and use it to get a little more festive! It's always an instant confidence boost, especially when paired with a black leather jacket.

Practice Gratitude

I know this should be an all-year round thing, but we all know what it's like when life gets busy. I'm going to be starting a little project this month (that might continue on in 2017) that will have me thinking about all of the things I feel grateful for. I'm hoping it will help me make it more of a habit of slowing down and being thankful. I'll be sharing this one in the second week of Blogmas!

Write My New Years Resolutions

I'm a very goal-orientated person, so I look forward to doing this every year. Most of the time my resolutions change and evolve through the months, but it's such a great idea to just sit and think about what you would like the next year to look like. I have a feeling mine are going to be all about blogging/business goals and working hard for that dream life I have in my head. You never know what the year will bring!

Bake and decorate Christmas cookies for my family

This has become one of my favorite things to do in December, so I thought I would make the most of my new hobby and make some edible gifts! My Grandad absolutely loves when I bake for him and that alone makes it worth the effort. I've found so many cute decorating ideas on Pinterest, so I'm gonna get baking and make a whole bunch for him to enjoy!

Buy Christmas pajamas to wear on Christmas Eve
My Mum and I talked about doing this while we were out shopping the other day, and I think it needs to become a new tradition for us. I always see Zoella doing this with with Alfie and his family, and it seems like the cutest idea. I've spotted some adorable pajamas lately that I will be buying on our Christmas Eve shopping ventures (pray for me.)

What's on your bucket-list this December?

  1. Love these ideas Steph! We've been working on our December bucket list too! I totally agree about Harry Potter, usually we find a channel playing it on Christmas morning while we sit and wait for everyone to come downstairs, it's just perfect. You are awesome if you are going to actually bake the gingerbread and assemble it, we struggle with the assembling the most, so this year our husbands bought us pre assbmbled ones to decorate...aren't we cheats! haha Good Luck! Can't wait to see pictures! :)

    1. Thanks Kelly! I so can't wait to read your bucket-list (great minds think alike!) Harry Potter is so perfect for Christmas, that morning sounds perfect. Haha I'm starting think the fun is in the decorating, I always get frustrated with trying to stick the house together. It usually breaks and I just spend the week eating broken pieces of gingerbread! lol Can't wait to see some festive posts from you girls :)

  2. I have never made a gingerbread house from scratch, but I always get a kit and make one every year. It's one of my favourite traditions mostly because I absolutely adore gingerbread :) I love the idea of a Christmas bucket list and I may actually have to do one myself! x

    1. I think kits are the way to go! I'm just making it hard on myself lol They don't sell many in NZ, so I have no choice but to bake one. You should totally write a list! I love reading what others want to do this Christmas.

  4. I've never made a December bucket list but I kind of really want to now!

Ooh, it's so cute that you have a tradition of wearing new clothes for Christmas, I usually just stay in my pyjamas all day, haha. And I totally agree about Harry Potter and Christmas, it's all magical and just suits the time of year perfectly! I love the idea of wearing more red lipstick as well! I'm usually more of a pink lips kind of gal but I'm gonna make the effort to wear more reds too!
