December Reading Challenge

Tuesday, 1 December 2015

Hello Everybody!
If you remember, I did a reading challenge back in October and I actually did pretty well. It was great setting aside time each day just to read and to take a break away from my computer screen. I know December is going to be a crazy busy month with Blogmas and with almost everyone in my family having a birthday. So it's going to be extra important to set aside some time to unwind each day.

Here's the four books I will endeavor to complete this month:

Harry Potter and the Philosopher's Stone by J. K. Rowling
One thing I've been meaning to do for a while now is re-read this series. It has been far too long! For some reason this book reminds me of Christmas. I think it's because there are some really nice holiday moments with Harry and Ron. Anyone else want a Weasley sweater with their initial on it?

Blue Lily, Lily Blue by Maggie Stiefvater
What can I say, I'm in love with this series. This is the third book in the Raven Cycle, with one more to be released. There are so many mysteries in this series so hopefully I'll uncover a few in this one, but I have a feeling they're being saved for a grand finale. Ugh. Oh well!

The Here and Now by Ann Brashares
I picked this one up a while ago, and as usual I had every intention of reading it but never did. It's about a girl who travels from the future to help prevent the pandemic that's wiping out millions in her time. Naturally, there's a bit of romance involved and things go wrong. Oh, I do I love a good romantic thriller.

Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
I don't know how it's taken me so long to read this. I mean, the title is literally me in a word. One of the twins in this book sounds exactly like me too, with staying home and writing rather than going out to parties. I've heard so many people loving this book, so I think it's about time I read it.

Do you guys have any book recommendations?
Until tomorrow! x.

October Book Challenge: Update and Reviews

Sunday, 1 November 2015

Hello Everybody!
If you remember back to the start of the month, I wrote a post about my October Reading Challenge that I decided to undertake. Essentially, I set myself up to read one book per week during the month and...

I did it!
I pretty much stuck to the books on my list, except I swapped The Son of Neptune for The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire. Because, you know, it's Dan and Phil! I have to be in the right mood to read a Percy Jackson book for some reason. It was nice always having a book at hand again.

Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins
I really enjoyed reading this again. Actually, I think I liked it more this time around. I did forget how gruesome some of the chapters were though! The movie should be amazing. Emotional, but amazing.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater
I absolutely love these books! Maggie's transitions from character to character are perfect, and I find it almost feels like you're reading/watching a TV show. I have to say that Blue is one of my favorite female characters ever; she knows how to stand up for herself and be proud of who she is. I may have ordered the third book before I finished this one...

The Amazing Book Is Not On Fire by Dan Howell and Phil Lester
This was probably the book-by-a-YouTuber(s) I was looking forward to the most. These two were the ones who got me addicted to YouTube a couple years back. I have to say, they did an awesome job with this book! My favorite sections were the Fan Fictions and the BBC Radio 1 story. There's tonnes of random pages in between that made it such a fun read!

#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
I have been wanting to read this for the longest time, and I'm so glad I finally did! Can I have Sophia as my best friend, please? This book was really inspiring, and I'm definitely at the right age to read it. Her story is definitely unique and she gives amazing advice to daring young girls (like us bloggers!) when it comes to creating our dream lives. Highly recommend!

What's your favorite book at the moment?
Until next time x.

October Reading Challenge!

Tuesday, 6 October 2015

Hello Everyone!
A while ago I set a challenge for myself to read one book per week, and I actually did well. For about a month. I then went on holiday, my work hours changed, and it all went out the door. Reading is my absolute favorite hobby, but I always forget to leave time for it everyday. And since I need to spend more time away from my laptop, I couldn't ask for a better distraction. It's a new month and I damn well miss reading, so lets do this!

Challenge: Read one book per week in October, four in total. I'm not being particularly strict on when I finish each of them, since some are longer than others. Just as long as I do my best to finish them around October 31st.
The order of these could very well change, I just never know what I'm going to feel like reading.

The Son of Neptune by Rick Riordan

It's been far too long since I've read a Percy Jackson book. I feel a little old reading them, but I love a good adventure story.

#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso

I don't usually go for books like this, I'm a massive lover of fiction. But I also love searching for inspiration and due to my current mindset, this one seemed perfect. For someone like me, who is determined to become an entrepreneur but doesn't feel like they fit the usual role, I think Sophia's story will be very helpful and reassuring.

The Dream Thieves by Maggie Stiefvater

I absolutely loved reading Th Raven Boys, so of course I bought the sequel straight away. Maggie does such an amazing job when it comes to creating characters so I can't wait to see what happens in this one.

The Hunger Games: Mockingjay by Suzanne Collins

Don't worry, I have actually read this book before! It was just three years ago and I can't quite remember everything that happens. I really want to read it again before the film comes out in November since I always get a kick out of certain moments/quotes being brought to life.

My progress so far: I decided to start with Mockingjay. I've been allowing myself to have half an hour or so between my blog work and my part-time job to read for a bit. I've also been reading before bed as well, since I've been having a bit of trouble getting to sleep I find it helps.

I will update you guys as the month goes along!
What are your favorite books to read? Leave me some recommendations in the comments!
Until next time x.
