We all get busy sometimes and our health and well-being tend to suffer most if we don't keep on top of it. I think it's safe to say that we have all been guilty of making excuses and letting some of our most important everyday habits slip by. And so, I have compiled a list of some of the things you should be making time for, no matter how busy life gets.
1. Visualize your day
It sounds a bit cheesy I know, but this is a tried and test way of starting your day with the best
attitude possible. It's simple really, just sit down, close your eyes and imagine your day with
happy outcomes and having a laugh with workmates. You'll be suprised by the difference it
makes to your day!
2. Skin care
I think we're all guilty of letting this one slip on occasion and we all know how quickly our skin
can start to play up. Find a routine and products that work for you and your schedule. Personally,
I keep it simple: cleanse, tone, moisturize, and use a mask/exfoliate several times a week. You'll
thank yourself for it later!
3. Eating well
This one's a given, however, it's a habit that can slip away so easily when things get busy.
The best way of making sure you eat well each day is taking the time to find healthy recipes
you'll love, plan a shopping list, and even prepare a healthy lunch the day before. It doesn't take a
heap of time and you'll feel better for it.
4. Drinking water
Again, it's obvious, but I myself am guilty of not drinking enough water. A great habit to
get into is to always have water nearby, so that you'll automatically reach for it throughout
the day.
5. Organization
Tidy space, tidy mind right? We all hate those Saturday mornings spent catching up on chores.
Find time each day to organize just a little and not only will you feel better in your environment,
you'll also be able to spend your Saturday doing the things you want!
6. Catch up with friends and family
No matter what happens in our lives, family and friends are all we have at the end of the day. Even
sending a TXT or eating dinner together can make a difference to your day, and shows that you
care.
7. Laugh
Whether it's through having a catch up with friends, funny cat videos on YouTube or watching
your favorite comedian (I recommend Danny Bhoy), it will improve your day AND make you live
longer. Need we ask for more?
8. Time for yourself
As someone who is quite introverted this is a very important part of my day, and is something I
never fail to find time for. For me, I put headphones on and browse my way through the internet
and watch my favorite daily vloggers on YouTube. Whatever recharges you for the next day, make
sure you find the time.
9. Write down your happies!
Inspired by the amazing Louise Pentland (aka Sprinkleofglitter), a great way to reflect is to sit
down and write at least three things that happened during the day that made you happy. I often
find myself doing this on break at work to show myself that my day really isn't going as bad
as I think it is. Maybe someone complimented you or your coffee was perfectly made. Find
time to be grateful for the little things in life.
10. Exercise
Yup, can't get away from this one. The hardest part of exercise is always stepping out the door,
but the benefits are always worth it. Even just a walk outside to clear your head and get away
can be the biggest relief with things get chaotic and busy. Heart problems run in my family
and so it's extra important for me to keep my fitness up. Last year I struggled to run 5km, and
now after time running regularly I can run 10km and have entered a half marathon. Trust me,
it pays off!
